University of Pisa/Detroit Round Two!

This previous week the UDM SOA students had a week-long design charrette with the University of Pisa Architecture and Engineering students. The students were challenged to recreate the Piazza XX Settembre into four completely different programs. Aside from critical thinking when it comes to designing the students were faced with programmatic problem solving and a language barrier that proved to make collaborating very difficult.
Overall, the students were split into Four groups consisting of 3-4 University of Pisa students and 3 University of Detroit Mercy Students.
The following programs were what the students had to create.
Group 1 – Theatre Space for modern performances/seating.
Group 2 – Sculpture Park that housed upwards of 25 sculptures.
Group 3 – A Spa and Garden
Group 4 – Art market/Modern Logia

The Following are pictures of the projects and the students.

Group 4 – Also created a video of their design which can be found here.” ¬†https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrLyIZH4mJU ”
